Hi Jarissa,

The library can assist you in finding books and articles to use as sources for your research paper.  Additionally, the English department has two writing centers that can provide one-on-one assistance with planning and organizing your paper, as well as proper writing style and grammar.  One of these writing centers is located in the library on the second floor Rm. L233 (the other in Bradley Hall).  I would call the main office as soon as you can to set up your initial appointment at 572-7195 (they can help you throughout the semester to strengthen your writing).  They take walk-ins when they are not busy but it's best to have a scheduled appointment.

As far as exploring your topic "artificial insemination", I would suggest coming into the library and speaking with one of us at the reference desk.  We can guide you to the books in the library that cover this topic as well as magazine and journal articles available through our databases.

Full text articles can be accessed from home as long as you have your N# and portal password working.  If you want a head start, go to the library home page "library.ncc.edu" or click library off the college homepage and then once on the library page click the "Databases" tab above the search box and then on the next page click "Databases Homepage".  This database homepage has a list of general databases like Academic Search and Infotrac.  If you select one of these and type "artificial insemination" in the search box you will pull up a large selection of articles.  If you are in the library, we can help you refine your topic and you can print these out.  From home you can print or email the articles to yourself.

If you have any questions, you can call us at 572-7408, but in this initial stage we can help you much better in person.

Thanks for contacting us!
