Hi Taylor,

I am assuming you are using MLA style.  If you are using APA, let me know. 

If you found a quote by Smith in an article by Jones that you want to use, you would mention the original author, Smith, and then follow the paraphrase with qtd. in Jones, followed by the page number where the quote was found in the Jones article.

Example

According to Smith, racial profiling caused the death of many innocent victims.(qtd. in Jones 35.)

In your works cited page, you only list the source you used, Jones.

Example:(If it is a book)

Jones, Rosa. Racial Profiling. New York: Harcourt Brace, 2004.Print.
