Can I renew an interlibrary loan if I still need it past the designated due date?

Answer

If you will need to keep an interlibrary loan item past its due date, you may submit a renewal request in your ILLiad account by selecting the option "Checked Out Items" in the left hand column and then clicking on the transaction number of the request you wish to renew and then selecting “Request a Renewal[1] ”.  Renewals are granted by the lending library however, and your request may be denied.  If granted a renewal is usually given for approximately an additional two weeks.

Note:  It is important to place a renewal request PRIOR to the official due date of your item but to not place the request more than one week prior to that due date.
